Collaboration & Relationship Development

True collaboration takes time and the full engagement of all partners. It is based on key issues, a shared vision, and a sincere desire to leverage talents and resources and work together: it is not based on an effort to raise money.

O’Neal Consulting Services has extensive experience implementing and successfully navigating collaborations both large and small. We will work with organizations wanting to collaborate and/or build relationships around specific issues and assist in developing the process by which the successful collaboration can occur.

Fundraising/Resource Development

For a community based organization to succeed in fulfilling its mission, it needs to have a strong and diversified plan for resource development, as well as the staffing in place to successfully implement the plan. Relying on foundation and public grants for the majority of your organization’s operating budget is not the answer. Our highly skilled consultants work with organizations to: (1) build your internal fundraising capacity, (2) create achievable and diversified fundraising plans, (3) educate, train and coach your board and executive staff to participate fully in your organization’s fundraising efforts.

Leadership Transition/Interim Leadership

We can provide the solution to your leadership transition and/or interim leadership needs. We have hands-on experience working with organizations and guiding them through the transition of executive staff. We also have successful experience serving in an interim capacity while organizations conduct their search for new staff leadership.

Organizational Development

Capacity Building
We provide our clients with the specific balance they need by strategically conducting a S.W.O.T. (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. Using focus groups as one of our primary tools, they would include your board, staff and key stakeholders both internal and external to your organization. Our clients receive a thorough report detailing our findings as well as our recommendations and suggested strategies to achieve them.

Organizational Assessment
We provide a comprehensive assessment of your organization’s management and governance structure. Our consulting team will review and make recommendations in the following areas: board governance, executive management, fund development, technology support, and strategic and operational processes. We also include a survey of your internal and external constituents, document reviews and conduct extensive reviews with key staff and board personnel. Clients are provided with a written summary of our findings and recommendations, as well as a PowerPoint presentation summarizing the results of the report.

Strategic Restructuring
Strategic restructuring is a great option for an organization seeking to continue fulfilling its mission, but wants to revisit – or restructure – the organizational structure they use to do it. It includes, but is not limited to: mergers, joint ventures, administrative consolidations, and joint programming. These differ from collaboration in that they involve structural changes in the logistics and control of the organizations involved.

Programs & Projects Design & Implementation

For Foundations:
We are adept at developing the overall strategic direction of funding initiatives, crafting effective RFP guidelines and procedures, developing scoring rubrics based on your desired outcomes, and participating in some or all of the proposal review and selection process. We can also provide monitoring and evaluation services for your grant recipients. Finally, we can provide technical assistance for your grantees to increase their capacity in the following areas: fundraising, program design and implementation, and leadership enhancement.

For community based organizations:
We have determined that many times when organizations approach us for grantwriting assistance they actually need programmatic design assistance to further clarify, refine and solidify their programs so that effective grant proposals and evaluation plans can be developed. We are adept at providing this assistance to our nonprofit clients.

Programs & Projects Management
We offer project management services for a variety of projects—both long and short term and of varied sizes and complexities. From logistics coordination and administrative support to actual project implementation, we offer full service project management support.

Secondary Research & Evaluation

Evaluation
We conduct evaluations for a variety of programs and initiatives and specialize in assisting small and mid-sized community based organizations in developing and implementing affordable, manageable—and meaningful—evaluation as an instrumental part of a program design, implementation and management strategy. We can assist with both process and outcome evaluations.

Secondary Research
We perform local environmental scans, identify regional and national best practices, identify and analyze documents, and review relevant literature. Secondary source research assists our clients in making decisions based on what is working in other organizations. This research can also be included in primary research projects to bolster data collection.

Strategic Planning

We provide inclusive strategic planning consulting with an eye towards the creation of a detailed road map for your organization utilizing a process that involves and engages a cross section of your organization’s internal and external audiences. We work with you through a process tailored to fit your specific needs and design a living document encompassing the following key factors: Vision, Mission, Core Purpose, Core Strategic Approaches, Values, Ethics, Practice and Behaviors, Goals, Objectives, and Supporting Activities.
